Family Left Homeless After Fire Burns House To Ground

Bandar Seri Begawan - The family ofAwang Sambong Bungot has been left homeless after their house in Kampong Pengkalan Tangsi, Layong was burnt to the ground following a `blast' at the upper storey kitchen at about 7.15pm yesterday.

According to Awang Husemey, 33, he heard an explosion from the upper storey kitchen. He then rushed upstairs and attempted to put out the fire.

One of his sisters, meanwhile, called the fire brigade.

Six firemen, led by Lamunin Fire Station Commanding Officer Md Sofian, successfully controlled the fire.

Fortunately, there were no reported causalities. However, the family lost all of their possessions in the fire. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
