Senior UBD lecturer to receive SEA Write Award

Bandar Seri Begawan - Brunei Darussalam has chosen a senior university lecturer as its recipient for the 2005 SEA Write Award, the regional literary recognition handed out to writers of the ten Southeast Asian nations by Thailand.

DrAmpuan Hj Brahim bin Ampuan Hj Tengah (pictured left), Dean of Students of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), who is also a senior lecturer at the Malay Literature Department, Faculty of Arts and.Social Science, will receive the award

from HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha, on behalf of HRH Crown Prince Vaj iralongkorn of Thailand, on October 12, at The Oriental, Bangkok.

Born in Kampong Batu Ampar, Dr Ampuan Hj Brahim who is known better known as Rahimi AB, started writing in 1973.

Most of his works are poems, short stories, novels and literary criticisms published in magazines in Brunei, Indonesia and Malaysia. Some of his works have been broadcast on local radio and television channels. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
