By Jon Tampoi

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Fire Services Department Muara branch now has new housing units for its staff.

In a ceremony held yesterday morning, Awg Mohd Salleh, Acting Assistant Director of the Fire Services Department received the mock key for a residential block and two housing units from Pg Ali bin Pg Mohammad, who represented the Director of Building Services of the Public Works Department.

The three housing units located on a 1.823-hectare land consist of two SD bungalows for four families and a F-02 class flat for eight families.

The construction was undertaken by the L.C.Y Development Sdn Bhd at a cost of B$1,841.000.

The project took 15 months to complete. The new flat will be presented to staff with the position of `Rank File' while the bungalows will be allocated to Station Officers.

Similar housing units had also been presented to the Lambak Kanan Fire Services Department earlier this year that are now in full use.

Also present to yesterday handing-over ceremony were members of the Fire Services Department of the Muara Branch, Public Works Department personnel and members of the L.C.Y Development Sdn Bhd.

A Doa Selamat was read to bless the ceremony. Currently there are over 1,100 Fire Services personnel in Brunei. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
