Workshop
By Sonia K
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Sixty staff member of the Universiti Brunei
Darussalam participated in a workshop on quality assurance recently at
the Senate Room, Chancellor Hall of the university.
The event, jointly organised by the
International Office of UBD and Asean-EU Network Programme (AUNP), was
conducted by an expert from Europe Ton Vroeijenstijn and officiated by
Hj Mohd Yusop bin Hj Awg Damit, acting vice chancellor and UBD chief
quality officer.
Quality assurance (QA) is a
collective process by which the university as an academic institution
ensures that the quality of the educational process is on par with the
standards it has set.
Through its quality assurance
arrangements, the university is able to satisfy itself, its students
and interested external persons or bodies that its courses meet the
appropriate academic and professional standards; the objectives of its
courses are appropriate; the methods chosen and the resources
available for delivering those objectives are appropriate and
adequate.
The issues discussed in the workshop
included major principles of quality and QA, best practices and trends
of QA and accreditation in Europe and Asean and strategies for
accreditation by self assessment at both programme and institutional
levels. --
