Bag Networks ICDL Certified

Begawan - The entire staff of Bag Networks yesterday received
the International Computer Drivers Licence (ICDL), making it the first
local company to have its entire staff ICDL certified.
BAG Networks is a joint venture
between the Brunei Government and Accenture, with staff comprising at
least 80 per cent locals. Through their shareholders, they have
maintained strategic alliances and network of businesses globally.
In the certificate presentation at
the Theater I Auditorium at the Ministry of Finance, service operation
manager of Bag Networks David Abberton stated that the event
represented a significant milestone for the company as it is an
independent assessment to international standards of its people and
capabilities, in line with their objectives of supporting the
development of ICT skills in Brunei.
Presenting the certificates yesterday
was the general manager of Bag Networks Haji Mohammed Shakharulain bin
Hj Thani.
Also in attendance was president of
Brunei Darussalam Computer Society (PKBD) Hj Mohammad Mahathir
Abdullah.
All 41 personnel of Bag Networks from
all positions received their ICDL certificates, having passed the
seven required modules.
In his speech, Abberton also took the
opportunity to thank as well as acknowledge the efforts PKBD has put
into facilitating the centres for ICDL.
He added that PKBD has made a
tremendous contribution to the country's drive for IT literacy, which
is in line with the aspiration of the government.
Meanwhile, Hj Mohammad
MahathirAbdullah, in his speech, urged the newly ICDL certified staff
to continue to update themselves by acquiring new IT skills.
There are currently I 1 ICDL centres
facilitated by PKBD, including one in Miri and Limbang, with the
largest located at the Seameo Voctech and IPA building. --
