Forwarders Urged To Embrace
Technology

Seri Begawan - A senior government officer advised members of
Brunei Freights Forwarders Association (BRUFA) to embrace technology
advancement to speed up their services and contribute to efficient
trade flows between Brunei Darussalam and other nations.

Brahim Hj Ismail, the controller of Royal Customs and Excise
Department. said the changing scenario of modern trade has increased
the need for efficient services. Brunei Darussalam saw a doubling, and
in certain cases, trebling of goods movements between the nation and
its trading partners.
"The adoption of technology is worth
every cent and dollar invested. Therefore make full use of
technological advances," he said. He spoke during a certificate
presentation ceremony in conjunction with its 5th Annual General
Meeting yesterday morning.

Brahim handed out certificates to BRUFA members who took part in the
training programme on Customs Valuation and HS Code Classification
last July 9 and 11. The guest of honour launched the association's
website, a tool for BRUFA members to develop their business.

President Lawrence Rathinam, said the association has always
emphasised to their members that education and training in various
courses will benefit them in developing knowledge and excel in
conducting business.
He said BRUFA is planning to conduct
more training programmes on the IATA training scheme, various
logistics and cargo courses to be conducted by Singapore Logistics
Association, and courses on maritime services as proposed by Director
of Ports Pg Hj Abdul Rahman. --
