Overstaying Couple Jailed Five Months

Bandar Seri Begawan - A Filipino couple was jailed for five months, with three strokes of caning for the husband, after both pleaded guilty to overstaying before the Bandar Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Immigration Prosecuting officer Moharefandi Hj Md Tahir told the court Albino De Castro Comisa, 36, possessed a social visit pass which expired April 3, 2004. His wife Elsa Gordove Secretario, 41, had a social visit pass which expired April 4, 2004.

Albino and his wife were approached by Immigration Enforcement personnel scrutinising illegal foreigners around the Mile One, Jalan Tutong commercial area on September 14. They failed to produce their passports and were detained for investigations. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
