Brunei Vigilance On Bird Flu
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Entry points in Brunei Darussalam will be monitored
in the prevention of the bird flu pandemic, Deputy Minister of Health,
Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Paduka Haji Awang Hazair
told the media yesterday.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that
Brunei will monitor the health condition of tourists and visitors at
all main entry points in the country, RTB reported.
They are also required to fill in the
health form, important information which some people regard as a waste
of time. He pointed out that Bruneians who have been out country are
possible carriers of diseases on their return and this is the reason
why travellers need to be monitored.
RTB also reported that the Minister
of Health, Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Paduka Haji Suyoi
said Brunei will work closely with the World Health Organisation and
other regional health organisations for the provision of special
vaccine and efforts in curbing the virus from spreading. He said
Brunei has held an unofficial meeting with Malaysia and Singapore to
assist each other in procurement of vaccine. --
