Bandar Seri
Begawan - Fourteen students from the Faculty of Business,
Economics and Policy Studies, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) will
bestarting a new chapter in their lives when they begin their two-year
twining programme at Sheffield University, United Kingdom.
Before flying off to the UK on
Wednesday evening, the Bulletin caught up with some of the twining
programme students.
Filled with excitement, Syukri bin
Haji Jais, one of the 14 students selected for the twining programme
in UK said, "I am very excited and delighted but yet a little bit
nervous."
Syukri
said the toughest challenge of going overseas to study is to be
independent and become more mature. However, he is ready to face any
challenges in order to succeed.
With the ambition of becoming an
accountant, Haji Mohd Azrul bin Haji Mohd Zain was delighted to be
part the group of students going to the UK.
Having been to the UK before, he said
the biggest challenge of living there is to maintain a budget, brave
the cold weather and the culture shock.
Also looking forward to her twining
programme is Dayang Yusbazillah binti Haji Md Yusof. "It is my dream
to study in UK," she said.
Worrying about the culture shock and
different ways British people dress and think from Bruneians, Dayang
Yusbazillah prepared to confront the challenges by reading more about
UK and trying to understand the British culture and people.
Dayang
Yusbazillah would also like to convey her sincere thanks to lecturers
who helped push the students to get better grades. --
