Brunei Invited To Take Part In
Saudi Al-Quran Competition

Begawan - Brunei Darussalam will take part in the 27th
International Al-Malik Abdul Aziz competition in Memorising, Reading
and Translating the Holy Quran, on invitation by the Saudi Arabia
government.
The event will take place in
MekkahAl-Mukarramah, Saudi Arabia from September 17 to 24.
Participants are expected to be back in Brunei on September 28.
The group comprises three
participants, AwangMohammad Yaasir bin Haji Ibrahim, Awang Mohammad
Khairul Hafiz bin Haji Roslin andAwang Mohammad Fikri bin Haji
Sharbini, and a judge,Awang HajiAbdul Rajid bin Haji Mohd Salleh. The
group departed yesterday afternoon from the Brunei International
Airport.
Participants went through a selection
process held at the Institute Tahfiz AlQuran Sultan Haji Hassanal
Bolkiah. It is hoped that this competition will bring exposure and
experience to participants and will motivate them to succeed in the
future.
It is also hoped that such
participation would help in producing potential and talented
participants in all aspects of al-Quran reading at an international
level.
Present to bid farewell was Dayang
Hajah Maimun bte Mat Jerah, Senior Religious Officer from the Ministry
of Religious Affairs as well as other officers from the Ministry.
Brunei first participated in the
competition in 1998. --
