A two-day practical workshop on "Speech Writing" will be held on September 20 and 21. Through the workshop, participating speechwriters should learn to develop effective speech writing skills for formal and informal functions.

The workshop will be conducted in Malay and English, and led by Dato' Aidit bin Ghazali, the principal consultant of Akedemi Aidit Shd Bhd, who has more than 20 years of speech writing experience, both in the Malay and English languages.

There will be however, a second speaker from Brunei who will be providing his inputs on the protocols of speech drafting tailored to the Bruneian context and culture.

The types of speeches to be covered during the workshop will be welcoming speeches, opening and closing of function speeches, keynote addresses, acceptance of award speeches, speeches in conjunction with major events, discussant's responses, religious talks, sales talks, as well as counselling and advisory speeches.

The workshop will also cover areas such as "fine tuning contents of basic speeches", "traits of an excellent speech writer", "speech writing: getting started the right way", "common reasons for a weak draft speech" and "criteria for effective speech evaluation".
