Visitor Jailed For Forged Pass

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 31-year-old Indian visitor was jailed for two months yesterday after pleading guilty before the Bandar Magistrate's Court to possessing a forged pass.

John Armstrong Arputham admitted in court he held a forged visit pass on page 11 of his Indian passport.

The immigration prosecuting officer said the defendant came to Brunei to visit his wife who is working here.

He earlier obtained a short visit visa and a social visit pass. - To extend his stay, he acquired four' extensions on his visit pass. The final extension was granted up to April 3, 2005.

The court heard the defendant met with a countryman named Ameed. They agreed to make an illegal extension on the defendant's social visit pass for $160. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
