Fire victims receive contributions

To assist those who had faced mishaps such as fires and natural disasters, the Brunei Islamic Religious Council provided assistance in the form of cash to ease the burden of these victims.

At the Belait District Religious Affairs Office yesterday afternoon, recent fire victims Awg Abdullah bin Mentek and his family of seven members received $1,400. His son-in-law, Awang Samsul Hadi bin Giyan and family of four, received $800.

Both were left homeless when a fire destroyed their residence in Kampong Melayu Asli, Kuala Belait on September 9.

The contribution was handed over by Belait District Acting Chief Religious Officer, Haji Zaidin bin Haji Ibrahim and was from the Brunei Islamic Religious Council.
