Consumers Urged To Be Wary Of Stores Charging Higher Prices
By Rosli Abidin Yahya

Bandar Seri Begawan - Some consumers alleged that a supermarket displayed lower prices on labels but charged them higher when paying for the products.

"We were paying for our items at the cash register in this supermarket. When the cashier scanned the bar codes on the products, they displayed higher prices.

"We highlighted the matter to the cashier who apologised and re-entered the prices manually.

"At a time when soaring oil prices have caused values of imported items to increase, a few shops may be feeling the pinch as buyers now make price comparison before buying their household needs. So some shops may resort to such dirty tricks," they said.

They urged customers to check the receipts against prices labelled on items.

There have been complaints that some grocery stores have allegedly been selling expired products to consumers.
