NDP Registered New Politcal Party

Begawan - The Registrar of Societies (R.O.S) has approved the
application of a new political party, National Development Party (NDP),
and has registered it as a legal political party in Brunei effective
August 31, 2005, announced NDP in its press statement.
NDP
is a new addition to the fast changing political landscape of the
country that saw in recent time the reinstatement of the suspended
Legislative Council and consequently the appointments of several
public figures to sit as people's representatives in the Council.
NDP
in its statement expressed its gratitude to His Majesty the Sultan and
Yang Dipertuan ofNegara Brunei Darussalam, and his Government,
especially the Registrar of Societies for giving due consideration to
its application and subsequently to make it a legitimate political
organisation in the country.
NDP
is headed by Awang Muhammad Yasin binAbdul Rahman @YasinAfandy, the
President of NDP's Pro-Tem Supreme Council.
Mahmud
Morshidi bin Awang Othman is the Deputy President of the party while
Awang Haji Aminorashid Haji Ghazali is its Secretary General.
Among other key persons in the line
up of its Pro-Tem Supreme Council are Awang Haji Umar bin Awang Tamin
as Vice President for Brunei-Muara District, Awang Sulaiman bin
Metarsad as Vice President for Seria and Belait District, Awang Haji
Hanafi bin Md Daud as Vice President for Tutong District and Awang
Haji Ibrahim bin Haji Jumat as Vice President for Tutong District.
NDP
said it would soon launch its Constitution and to be followed by the
launch of the party's Manifesto.
God willing, the First General
Congress and the official launching of the National Development Party
will be held.
All these dates will be announced
later, stated Awang Haji Aminorashid Haji Ghazali, the Pro-Tem
Secretary General of NDP.
He said the Pro-Tem Supreme Council
would be dissolved at the first General Congress in order to give way
for voting or election of new leaders of the party.
However, only registered members may
vote for or be elected as leaders, he said adding that the elected
members of the Supreme Council would then lead and manage the affairs
of the party for the next three years. --
