SEAMEO-VOCTECH Marks 15 Years

Bandar Seri Begawan - SEAMEO-VOCTECH celebrated its 15"' anniversary of establishment in Brunei Darussalam at the centre's premises in Gadong recently. The theme for the celebration was `Together We Excel'.

Present as the guest of honour was Dato Paduka Hj Abdul Razak bin Hj Muhammad, the First Governing Board Chairman of SEAMEO-VOCTECH.

A certificate presentation was held for the 42 staff of the centre who had completed the first lecture series organised by SEAMOE-VOCTECH. Souvenirs were also presented to the centre's three former directors.

In conjunction with the anniversary celebrations, an aerobic session for management and staff was held earlier. An exhibition entitled "Reminiscing Memory Lane - Inspiration of Director from 1990 to 2005' was also held at the centre's lobby area.

SEAMEO-VOCTECH began in 1990 as a part of a small office located at the Ministry of Education. The centre moved to the sixth form centre, and then to the technical college before finally moving into its current premises. Five directors have been elected in its 15 years of existence. One of the directors has since passed away.

SEAMEO-VOCTECH organises training programmes, memorandum of understanding, board meetings, research and consultancy. It also achieved the ISO 9001:200 certification on quality management system on March 3, this year. The centre also conducts various lecture series. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
