Development Ministry Marks Israj Mikraj

Bandar Seri Begawan - Ministry of Development held the annual lsrak Mikraj celebration yesterday at the ministrti's Dewan Betabur, Berakas.

Present was the Minister of Development, Pehin Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdullah bin Begawan Mudim Haj i Bakar. Also in attendance were Dato Paduka Dr Mat Sunny bin Haji Mohd Hussein, Deputy Minister of Development; Permanent Secretary (Admin & Finance), Dato Paduka Awang Hj Metassan; and Permanent Secretary (technical and professional), Awg Hj Mohd Said.

Among the activities held to celebrate this year's Israk Mikraj were the recital of al-Quran by a winner of the Al-Quran Reading Competition organised by the Ministry of Development, Awg Hamzah bin Pehin Dato Paduka Haji Abu Bakar and a Dikir performance by a group from the Survey Department.

The highlight of the celebration was a religious talk given by Dr Ustaz Hj Ismuhadi bin Abdullah from the Islamic Dakwah Centre. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
