Fire Guts Sumbiling Shop

Bandar Seri Begawan - A shop selling Quran verses was destroyed in an early morning fire yesterday.

The Fire Services Department press release said the fire was under control in 16 minutes.

A short circuit caused the fire, but there were no injuries or fatalities, it added. The cost of damage is still under investigation.

An emergency call was received at 3.44am and personnel were rushed to Bangunan Pg Anak Saliha in Kg Sumbiling Lama.

Two fire engines from Beribi, one from Berakas Fire Station and three boats from Marine Fire and Marine Fire Post Station were dispatched.

The operation involved 23 fire services personnel headed by SSFS Hj Tamin Yusof, SSFS Salehudin Hj Ibrahim and SFS Hj Mohammad Sulaiman.

Meanwhile, a fire razed a two-story house in Kampong Melayu Ash in Kuala Belait last Friday, RTB reported. There were no reports of injury or loss of life. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
