Belait District Scouts Camps Teaching Important Skills

Kuala Belait - A participant stated that the four-day Belait District Scouts Camp at Jubilee- ' Anduki Recreational Park in Seria had taught its 100 members some self-discipline, independence and other important skills.

The annual camp organised by Belait District Scouts Association with Jefri Bolkiah Engineering College as its host commenced Friday afternoon and will, conclude with a closing ceremony tomorrow morning.

Eight troupes joined the programme, which aims to form friendships and instil team spirits, as well as offering students productive activities like an endurance test for the school holidays.

Present as chief guest during the official opening was the Director at Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Harris Hj Osman, who praised its organisers for holding such beneficial and goodwill events for youths.

He considered them early exposure or a platform for lessons on leadership, good communication and admirable moral values, as well as more confidence in facing life's challenges.

Also at hand was Belait District Scout's Commissioner, Hj Abu Bakar Hj Othman, who delivered the welcoming remarks.

The camp carried a theme of "Menjana Keperkasaan Generasi Masakini" that includes project pioneering and jungle trekking.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
