'Cold Face Killer' ends The Magician's spell
By Alex How

It could be an all Chinese-Taipei final in the Brunei 9-Ball Invitational Cup 2005 should Chao Fong Pang of Chinese-Taipei overcome the challenge from Gandi Valle of Philippines in the semifinal match at the National Indoor Stadium at 10am today.

Chinese-Taipei's Kuo Po-Cheng will meet against his compatriot Wu Chia Ching in the other semifinal match.

'Cold Face Killer' Chao showed his killer instinct when he defeated 'The Magician' Efren Reyes 9-5 in the exciting quarterfinal match. Chao played his last two racks with good breaking skills including a nine on the break to end the spell of the Magician.

Gandi Valle earned the semifinal spot when he beat Nguyen Thanh Nam of Vietnam 9-6 in the quarterfinal.

It was heartbreak for the defending champion Mohd Junarto when he lost to Kuo 9-6 in the quarterfinal, while 'The Little Genius' Wu defeated Antonio Lining of Philippines 9-4.

Brunei's Ahmad Taufiq Murni came close to advance to the quarterfinal when he led Kuo 7-2 in the second round. But the 2005 World Championship runner-up Kuo overturned the deficit to win 9-8. The third place playoff will start at 11pm, while the final will be played at 2pm at the National Indoor Stadium.

9-Ball fans will also have the chance to seek autographs from the eight quarterfinalists plus Yang Chin Shun. A 30-minute autograph session will be held after the final match.
