Local Man Jailed For Impersonation

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday sent a local man to prison for two years after he was found guilty on two charges of impersonation.

Mohd Hafiz Al-Islam was found guilty on a first count of pretending to hold a position as an ISD officer and requesting a woman to surrender cash remuneration on October 11, 2003 at house No 31, Spg 12013-10 in Kg Delima Dua, said DPP Norhayati DP Hj Omar.

A second charge stated that the defendant had falsely represented himself as a lawyer and had dishonestly induced a person to surrender cash amounting to $2,900.

DPP Norhayati brought eleven witnesses to testify before Magistrate Lailatul Zubaidah against the defendant's case. The defendant represented himself. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
