Brunei Team Wins Award At ABU

Begawan - Brunei Darussalam, represented by Maktab Kejuruteraan
Jefri Bolkiah (MKJB), exhibited its potential in robotic technology
and won its first international - engineering award at the
Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Robot Contest (Robocon). Brunei
was awarded the Toyota Award at the contest held in Beijing, China on
August 27.
A total of 20 teams from 19 countries
including Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia,
Iran, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Thailand and Brunei took part
in the competition.
The MKJB SAMOT 2005 team was
supervised by Norjemee bin Jenek, Ong Wee Hong, Hj Aijaz and Tang Weng
Lit.
The team comprised seven students,
who are Ho Chang Re, Alken Yee Soon Keong, Mohammad Hakim bin Mohamed
Sabli, Muhamad Hasrin bin Suali, Rynnol bin Simpan, Mohd Noraziman bin
Hj Jaini and Hj Mohd Saiful Azreen bin Hj Mohd Jinni. The team lost a
student member, Lim Ping Zhung, in a traffic accident during the
completion of the project.
The SAMOT 2005 team was supported and
sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Brunei Shell Marketing Co,
Setia Motors, Islamic Bank of Brunei, Takaful IBB, Syarikat
Kejuruteraan Sistematik, Triple Star Enterprise, Megamas Training Co,
Boustead, GooBrothers Electrical Engineering, PKS, JAC Marketing, ITIS
Wescot Technology, TA & Morgen Distributors, Amalgamated Electronics,
Pustaka Remaja, Tek Modular, Belait Shoe Factory, Tecomarine Offshore
and Nurliayana Enterprise. --
