Nabbed After Two Years In Hiding
By Malal FadleyRizal

Bandar Seri Begawan - A Bangladeshi who was uncertain of his own age was sentenced to eight months' imprisonment after pleading guilty to overstaying in the country.

Mohamed Gani Miah was an occupant at a rented house in Kg Pulaie which was raided by Immigration officials during the wee hours of yesterday morning.

He managed to produce a special pass to the personnel during the inspection, but the pass was found to have expired two years ago.

During investigations, it was found that the defendant was put behind bars in 2000 and released the same year.

He was given a special pass pending his removal from the country which requires him to extend the said pass from time to time.

However, he failed to extend it after its last expiry date on September 15, 2003 and had since been in hiding. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
