By Malai FadleyRizal

Bandar Seri Begawan - A permanent resident was fined B$500 with a month's jail in default after admitting to the charge of possessing uncustomed goods before the Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Musin Anak Ujan, 46, was stopped at the vicinity of Tamiah Filling Station at Jalan Kuala Lurah on September 3.

She was a passenger with her son in a car driven by her husband.

Police officers apprehended the defendant after they found 24 bottles of different brand name beers and another dozen cans of Tiger beer in the rear bonnet of the car.

The defendant was then brought to the Customs personnel for investigations.

The defendant admitted that she had bought the beer from Limbang and declared them under her friends' names.

However, none of her friends whose names she quoted were present in the car in which the alcoholic beverages were stowed. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
