8 Teens Among 11 Held For Thefts

Tutong - Eleven Bruneians, including eight teenagers, have been arrested by police in the Tutong District for involvement in several theft cases in the district.

The police said on August 30, between 0958hrs and 2301hrs, officers from the Tutong District CID Police apprehended the 11 aged between 14 and 35.

Two of those arrested are schoolboys. The police investigation revealed that these people were involved in a number of thefts including nine gas cylinders, five fire hydrants, a bicycle and a variety of steel material.

The offenders included two schoolboys aged 16 and 14, while the rest were aged 14, 15, 16, 18, 16, 16, 20 and 27.

The police said information from the public helped them in arresting the culprits.

The police have asked secondhand dealers in the country not to accept any items that are suspicious in nature. The offenders were brought before the court yesterday afternoon. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
