Brunei, S'pore Join Together In 'RAPSODY'
By Jon Tam poi
Bandar Seri
Begawan - In an effort to enhance both national and
governmental relationships, Brunei and Singapore have recently decided
to redress the uniformed Senadung Muhibah that has been a project
between the two nations for about 13 years.
This year's annual programme is being
hosted by Singapore.
Moreover, this year is the first time
the new concept of the programme has also been renamed. The programme
has been redesigned to include a presentation of pure culture, history
and talks with the intention to inform and create better understanding
as well as to enhance the bond between the two nations.
The programme, entitled "RAPSODY",
referring to "Rentak akar kita" (rhythm of our ancestor), is divided
into two sections, pre-event and the actual show.
The pre-event, led by Awg Hj Isa bin
Dzulkifli, Brunei's Executive Producer of the event, was held last
weekend and was tailored as a road show project which stopped at
various strategic points all over Singapore.
The road show also included
established Singaporean artists, who will feature in the final event,
as well as cultural talks, traditional attires display and giving away
of Brunei Traditional "Kuih Karing" (local Brunei Biscuits).
Yesterday, the first group of eight
members who were the "Cultural Ambassadors of the project" returned
from Singapore.
The executive producer will continue
to stay until the actual musical event which will concluded on
September 11, and will feature contemporary music and dances.
Members of the public are invited to
tune in to Radio Television Brunei on September 10, when the programme
will be telecast live in both countries. The programme is expected to
begin at 8pm. --
