Four New Over Head Bridges To Minimise Danger
By Rosli Abidin Yahya

Bandar Seri Begawan - The first of the four overhead bridges in the Brunei-Muara district - planned by the government to ensure the safety of the public, particularly students crossing the road - is now nearing its completion.

Construction works on the overhead bridge commenced last March. Once works are completed in the next few days, the bridge will make life easier for students from Berakas Secondary School.

Three other bridges will be constructed by the government in its zest to enhance the provision of infrastructural facilities and well-planned public amenities to ensure the safety of school children as well as the continuous wellbeing of the general population.

The four overhead bridges are part of departmental projects of the Road Department, Public Works Department of the Ministry of Development.

Another overhead bridge will be constructed in Jalan Muara to facilitate students of Sekolah Ugama Pengiran Anak Puteri Mutawakillah Hayatul Bolkiah in Kg Serusop and the Berakas Secondary School.

In Jalan Gadong, a planned overhead bridge will assist students of Sekolah Menengah Menglait.

The fourth overhead bridge in Jalan Tutong will be of great help to students of Sekolah Rendah Bendahara Sakam Bunut.

The overhead bridges will be constructed one after the other and cost roughly $1 million.

Apart from the students, the overhead bridges are also meant to help members of the public cross the four-lane roads, as the four locations are known to be heavily congested.

The move is seen as crucial in supporting the economic growth as well as ensuring the balanced socio-economic development of the country.
