St Margaret's Student Tops HSBC-CCMS English Debate

Kuala Belait - Twelve government and private secondary schools in the Belait - District took part in the HSBC-CCMS English Debate .2005 at Chung Ching Middle School (CCMS) yesterday.

It was the eighth time that HSBC had organised the debate competition since it first started in 1998.

Among other things, the debate was aimed at promoting creative thinking and improving students' public speaking skills.

The chief guest, HSBC Brunei Deputy CEO Mr Simon William, said that the project was inline with the bank's `Corporate Social Responsibility & Caring' programme.

Emerging as the champion was Nethra

Nair of St Margaret's School, while Nurhusha Yahya of Chung Ching Middle School and Nur Izzyani Haji Ramlee of St Angela's School came in second and third place respectively.

This year, HSBC awarded the champion with $250, while the second and third prize winners received $150 and $100. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
