National Conference On Information
Society

Begawan - Several keynote speakers will discuss related topics
at the two-day National Conference on Information Society, which start
today and ends September 8, at the International Convention Centre in
Berakas.
Each speaker will deliver five topics
at the conference followed by a question and answer session. Topics to
be addressed include "Enabling Environment and Policies" and "Pirated
vs Original Software: Which One Will You Buy?", that will be presented
by Dr Sommuk from Thailand.
Another speaker, Lord John E Shazell,
CEO President of Teleconsult, will speak on "Is Brunei Darussalam
Producing Enough Right & Capable People in ICT Industry?". He will
also discuss "Human Resource Capacity Development
Mr
Jeff Perlman, Director of Visa, Asia Pacific, will present the topic
"Content and Applications", where he will speak on "Is OnlineAccess
and Payment Secured, Convenient and Economical?".
Speaking on "Bridging the Digital
Divide" will be Mr Ambarish Dasgupta, partner of
PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
He will speak on "Is Internet Access
Expensive in Brunei Darussalam" while Dr Milagros Rivera of the
National University of Singapore, will present his topic "What are the
Universally Accepted and Ethical Values of the Information Society?".
He will also speak on "Media's Role
in Shaping Moral Values of Brunei Youth?".
Participants to the conference will
also witness the launching of the e-Application Expo. --
