Crown Prince Launches UBD “Pesta
Convo”

Begawan - His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah the
Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and
Pro-Chancellor at the University officially launched the Universiti
Brunei Darussalam (UBD) 'Pesta Convo' or Convocation Festival 2005
yesterday kicking off six days of festivities which included the 17th
Convocation of UBD graduates next week, September 6, 2005.
His Royal Highness the Crown Prince
Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, launched the event after opening remarks from
Dato Dr Haji Ismail bin Haji Duraman, UBD Vice Chancellor and began to
tour the exhibition, that was being showcased at the Basement floor of
Chancellor Hall, UBD.
The exhibitions featured at this
year's convocation festival included health promotion for the members
of the public, the University's Technology Education Centre,
Information Communication Technology, Students' Associations, the
University's Welfare bodies and also the sale of books, computers and
school stationery.
In his opening remarks, Dato Dr. Hj
Ismail, UBD Vice Chancellor expressed hope that the switch to the
Chancellor Hall would prove to be a more conducive environment to
celebrate the festivities that serves to be a precursor to the
upcoming 17th Convocation ceremony.
It also gives current university
students a chance to benefit from taking part in an enriching
experience by participating in the acfivities throughout the week.
The six-day Convo Festival is aimed
at instilling a spirit of cooperation, dedication and commitment
amongst the UBD students in conducting activities in conjunction with
the convocation festival.
The exhibition features Information
Communication Technology, the technology of education, University
Library and health promotion for members of the public. --
