HOPE For Scholarship Students

Bandar Seri Begawan - Over 40 scholarship students, bound for overseas studies in the United Kingdom, Australia and Eygpt, attended an HIV/ AIDS Outreach Programme (HOPe) that was conducted and organised by Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) at the Ministry of Education yesterday.

During the programme, the students were educated on how the deadly pandemic spreads, how it can be prevented and how to care for those that are infected and affected by HIV/AIDS, stated the bank in a press release.

Students were made privy to several fun and interactive activities; teaching them the differences of HIV and AIDS, as well as information on the number of people living with the increasingly fatal pandemic globally and locally.

Among the events organised during HOPe were `Wildfire', `Bridge of Hope' and role playing activities.

The `Wildfire' activity taught the students that HIV/AIDS does not choose its victims and that it can infect and affect anybody living careless social behavioural lifestyles.

The `Bridge of Hope' and role-playing activities allowed the students to simulate real-life situations surround HIV/AIDS, as well as how to live healthy lifestyles and how to prevent themselves from infection. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
