MTSSR Students Display Cookery Skills

Bandar Seri Begawan - Chef Suhairi Idris, Executive Chef of The Empire Hotel & Country Club, expressed delight at being invited as one of the three judges for the Apprenticeship Competition organised by the Training Kitchen of the Hospitality and Tourism Department at the Sultan Saiful Rizal Technical College.

Twelve of the best students had been selected to take part in the competition, stated the hotel in a press release.

"This is a yearly competition to award the best apprentices as part of the college's goal to build selfconfidence and at the same time to enhance creativity and skills in cookery," said Fatimah Haji Mahadi, one of the teachers from the college.

"I am indeed honoured to have been chosen as one of the judges and it is extremely promising to see the talents, as well as the interests, of these budding chefs," said Chef Suhairi Idris.

The Empire Hotel & Country Club is pleased with the increasing interest shown by the students in the hospitality industry and actively encourages the development of these students by partaking in initiatives such as this.

At the same time, the hotel regularly welcomes young trainees who are attached to the various departments of interests at the hotel. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
