Thirty-Eight Job-Seekers Complete
Basic Accounting Training

Begawan - Thirty-eight job-seekers who completed a two-day
course in Basic Accounting were presented with certificates of
attendance recently.
The course was organised by the
Career Resource Centre, Ministry of Education and KPMG a prominent
accounting firm.
The training which was aimed at
equipping job-seekers with the skill in basic accounting was conducted
by Awg Hj Shazali bin Dato Sulaiman.
The certificates were presented by
the guest of honour at the function, Hjh Donnaliza bte Abdullah Puasa,
the Chairperson of the Career Resource Centre.
In her speech, she stressed the need
for job-seekers to acquire new skills so as to increase their
marketability in their search for job vacancies. Capabilities in the
field of ICT, accounting and languages are qualities that need to be
acquired, she added. She also thanked KPMG for fully sponsoring the
course.
Earlier, in his opening remarks, Head
of Career Resource Centre, Dr Ee Ah Meng, said job-seekers need to be
proactive in seeking out jobs. Besides advertisements in the media,
one should also look up the Yellow Pages and make the necessary
inquiries or even walk into any organisation to seek out an
appointment for an interview.
Job-seekers are also urged to attend
any relevant course or accept any reasonable job offer that would
provide them with some working experience. These are common qualities
sought by potential employers.
Also present at the ceremony was Head
of Counselling and Career Guidance Section at the Ministry of
Education, Awg Hj Bulat Bin Badar. --
