Minister On Leadership For SMEs

Bandar Seri Begawan - SMEs must have strong leadership criteria that can motivate to expand innovation, Pehin Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awg Hj Ahmad at a discussion during a two-day 12th Apec Ministerial Meeting responsible for SME's at Deagu, Republic of Korea, which ended yesterday, highlighted the importance of leadership that can boost innovation.

The meeting was chaired by Sung Jin Kim, Administrator for SME development of the Republic of Korea. In the meeting, the ministers discussed Apec coordinated efforts to promote innovation among SME's in Apec.

In this context, the meeting agreed on Deagu's Initiative on the SME Innovation Action Plan. The action plan contains guidelines of every Apec economy towards the establishment of environment and economic policy that would catalyse innovation development.

Such action plans could assist towards fine-tuning action plans on the development of SME whilst at the same time provides a benchmark on the developmental achievement of its implementation in Brunei.

The Deagu Initiative on SME Innovation Action Plan would be forwarded at the Apec Leaders meeting in November in Busan, Korea as an achievement by Apec Ministerial meeting responsible for SMEs. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
