B.Mobile Is Launched

Bandar Seri Begawan - His Royal Highness Prince Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office yesterday morning consented to officiate the launching of B-mobile Communications Sdn Bhd, the country's first 3G mobile phone service provider at The Mall.

Welcoming the Crown Prince at the event was the Chairman of B-mobile Communications Sdn Bhd, Prince Abdul Qawi as well as other members of the Board of Directors.

Music, songs and dance performances by local and international performers also highlighted the launching ceremony. Shortly after the launching, HRH the Crown Prince toured the vendor booths participating in the b.mobile Grand Launch Week.

B-mobile Communications Sdn Bhd on February 1, 2005 was awarded the second Mobile Operator Licence based on wireless code-division multiple-access (WCDMA) technology.

Established in February 2005, the company is a joint venture between Telekom Brunei Berhad (Te1Bru) and QAF Comserve.

In just seven months after it was awarded the Mobile Operator Licence for 3G technology, mobile communications have

been fast forwarded and redefined. The two months trial period from 1 July to 1 September have been overwhelmingly received by the public.

Another important mention is the fact that it is launched ahead of schedule from its previously planned December 2005 launch. This further reiterates the rapid growth of telecommunication technology and infrastructures in the country.

From the 151 generation of AMPS analogue mobile system to the second generation GSM system, the introduction of the third generation WCDMA system by b.mobile for the locals promises `a whole new experience' for mobile phone users in the country.

The 3G services offered, by b.mobile include enhanced video streaming, mobile Internet and video calls to the fullest.

At the same time b.mobile and their content provider have upgrade their b.world portal which can be accessed by 3G users from their mobile phones.

Among the upgrades are new games, videos and ring tones and these together with the other services as well as exciting rates for both the b.mobile's Prepaid and Postpaid Plans further opens a new chapter in mobile telecommunication in the country. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
