St John's School Launches Brain Gym Programme

Bandar Seri Begawan - St John's School in Kuala Belait recently initiated an acclaimed Educational Kinesiology (Edu-K) programme called "Brain Gym" for the kindergarten and primary students.

Under Mr Abegail R. Villamor, an experienced PE master, the kindergarten section now has one period of brain gym activities per week.

Brain Gym is a series of simple and enjoyable movements made popular by Dr Paul E. Dennison to enhance the students' experience of whole-brain learning.

Now MrAbegail is teaching Brain Gym

movements such as Lazy 8s, Double Doodle, Alphabet 8s and many other midline movements to the students on a regular basis.

These activities, according to him, will make all types of learning easier, as it stimulates the left and right hemispheres (Literally Dimension), the brainstem and frontal lobes (Focus Dimension) and the limbic system and cerebral cortex (Centering Dimension). -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
