Showcase Of Vietnamese Furniture

Bandar Seri Begawan - In conjunction with the Vietnam Food Fair that ends on September 4 2005, a Vietnamese furniture exhibition and sale is on at the Sheraton Utama Hotel's lobby. The food fair was launched last week.

Vietnamese furniture is handmade using age-old traditional methods such as "ormolu" mounting, mother of pearl, lacquer, plates made from bamboo and twining.

The old style and colonial period designs make the pieces an attractive buy.

In addition, a pictorial exhibition on Vietnam is also being held, while a Vietnam info video is shown every evening.

These have been possible by the efforts of the Vietnamese Embassy in collaboration with the Sheraton Utama Hotel. The events are aimed at creating better understanding of Vietnam. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
