Agriculture Dept Officials, Entrepreneurs Tour Thailand

Bandar Seri Begawan - A delegation comprising officials from the Agriculture Department of the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources and local entrepreneurs recently made a tour of a coconut tree plantation in Suan La-Ong, a rural district in Chonburi province, Thailand as part of the delegation's three-day working visit in the country. .

One of the entrepreneurs, Mr Chai Yum Fart, Manager of Asia Enterprise told the Bulletin yesterday that the aim of the visit was to further enhance knowledge in the agricultural field so as to benefit the development of the industry in. the sultanate.

The delegates also toured the rural area in Rayong where they visited another farm that was managed by a group of Thai women. The farm produces processed fruits and is regarded as an agro-tourism landmark in Thailand.

Among the other places visited by the delegation were Nong Nooch Tropical Park and a grape farm. The 18-member delegation was led by the Head of the Agribusiness Technology Advisory Unit, Awg A Hashim bin Tuah.

The visit was part of an annual project organised by the Agriculture Department, which has coordinated similar visits to Malaysia and-Indonesia. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
