MINDEF Holds Isra' Me'raj Celebration

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) yesterday held a religious ceremony to commemorate Isra' Me'raj for the year 2005 coinciding with the Islamic year 1426 Hijrah.

Present at the ceremony held at the Bolkiah Garrison Surau was Pehin Dam Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Hj Awg Halbi bin Hj Md Yussof, the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF).

The ceremony was also attended by the Permanent Secretary and Deputy Permanent Secretary II at the Ministry of Defence, military commanders and commandants, senior military and civilian officers, Ministry staff and other ranks of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

The ceremony commenced with the reading of the Al-Quran by Awg Isyak bin Hj Abd Manap, which was followed by a religious talk on Isra' Me'raj by Ustaz Dr Hj Mohammad Shahruni bin Hj Abd Kahar. The ceremony concluded with the reading of 'Doa Kesyukuran'. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
