Watch Out For Illegal Perfume Sellers
By Achong Tanjong

Bandar Seri Begawan - Some foreign nationals residing in the country are allegedly carrying out illegal contract business activities by selling various types of perfumes to customers.

Dressed smartly and armed with executive business bags they go around shops in Gadong.

They normally target working individuals, especially kitchen helpers, as they conduct their business mostly along back lanes near kitchen areas.

The back lanes provide an ideal backdrop for them to conduct their illicit trade as they are not many people around.

Customers-targeted are mostly from the lower income group, with the sellers offering to take payments in instalments and collect money at the end of the month.

It is not known where the products are from but the sellers are not authorised direct-selling agents.

According to sources, such illegal contract business activities are mostly carried out during public holidays to avoid being detected by law enforcement agencies.

Several foreigners conducting such illegal contract business activities in the water villages or open market (Tamu) in the capital have been caught by the authorities and fined. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
