Events Lined Up For Teachers' Day Celebration

Bandar Seri Begawan - In conjunction with this year's Teachers' Day celebration on September 23, the Executive Organising Committee of Teachers' Day has lined up various events including religious, sports.and social activities.

The theme of this year's celebration is "Pendidikan Bersepadu Masyarakat Bersatu".

The sports and social events will include golf tournament, which is open to officials and teachers of the Ministry of Education, to be held on October 10 at the Jerudong Park and Country Club; Badminton tournament; charity walkathon; Sports Festival of the Education Ministry; Charity Bazaar; TV forum; and religious activities.

Like previous year, the Ministry of Education will organise a Charity Bazaar to be held for three days from October 1 at the Jerudong Park, followed by Teachers' Day Charity Walkathon to be held on Sunday morning October 3 at the same venue.

The Ministry of Education Sports Festival will be held on Saturday night October 2 at 7.30 pin in the Jerudong Park.

There will also be TV forum in two languages - Malay and English - to be aired on September 24 and 25 respectively. It will be a joint effort by RTB and the Ministry of Education.

The climax of the celebration will be held at the International Convention Centre in Berakas on September 23 with the announcement of Teachers' Day Award for recipients under the Teachers' Day Special Award category. They will each receive plaque, certificate, cash amounting to B$4,000 and free medical facilities at hospitals and medical clinics.

In the category of Guru Cermerlang or Excellent

Teachers, the recipient will receive plaque, certificate and cash amounting to B$6,000 for exceling in subjects and B$4,000 for teachers who excel in certain academic fields and facilities to further their studies locally or aboard. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
