Mega Concert in Belait Draws Over 10,000

Kuala Belait - Over 10,000 people enjoyed a free Mega Concert, starring Malaysian artiste Erra Fazira and KRU, at Padang Bandaran in Kuala Belait last Saturday night.

The night-long concert, organised by the Belait District Executive Committee for the Royal Couple Get Together and Thanksgiving Ceremony, was held to celebrate the Royal Wedding of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Pg Muda Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pg Anak Isteri Pg Anak Sarah. It was also a way of saying thanks and giving something back to the people.

The concert, which was mainly sponsored by Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd, and co-sponsored by BSP and other private companies, began at about 8.30 pm and drew to a close after 11 pm.

To kick start the concert, Erra Fazira serenaded the crowd with a number of hits from her latest album 'Kim Kembali', which debuted in January this year. KRU also captivated the audience with hits from their previous album and also sang English songs.

Towards the final moments of the concert, Fazira and her husband Yusry of KRU performed a beautiful duet which left the audience in awe.

Besides performances by Fazira and KRU, the people were also treated to a variety of traditional and modern dance performances.

Among those that took part in the night-long event included PEMBELA, Swan Music School, the Municipal Board of KB and Seria, Majlis Perundingan Mukim and BSP.

There were also performances by a number of local artistes such as Syarifah Nurhaliza, Zurina, Pg Shahminan, Erwan Rino Noordin, Salwa and more.

The gigantic screen set up on the newly refurbished grandstand gave screaming fans at the far end no trouble to see the live performances. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
