Britain’s Duke of Gloucester Visits BSP’s Champion 7

Begawan - The prolific offshore platform Champion 7 of Brunei
Shell Petroleum Company Sendirian Berhad (BSP) was honoured with the
visit made by His Royal Highness Prince Richard (Duke of Gloucester)
yesterday afternoon.
HRH Prince Richard was accompanied by
Mr Andrew Caie, British High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam, and Mr
Martin Walley, his deputy.
Upon arrival at Brunei International
Airport, HRH Prince Richard was greeted by Mr Mark Came, Managing
Director of Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd.
At Champion 7, HRH Prince Richard was
greeted by Mr Peter Slaiby, East Asset Manager of BSP, and Pg Maszidi
Pg Hj Abd Hamid, East Head of Operations Support.
The programme started with an
introduction by Mr Mark Came and a presentation of the activities and
performances of East Asset Unit, which includes Champion fields and
its contribution to BSP's overall production by Pg Maszidi.
The East Asset Unit has developed six
fields since 1970 namely Champion, Magpie, Iron Duke, Champion West,
Peragam and Bugan.
The Champion field was discovered in
1970 and comprises of 89 structures, one manned complex and six
production stations. Its daily production for oil is 103,000 barrels
per day and 9mln cubic metre of gas per day.
Following the advent of technology,
it has developed its Smart wells since 2000.
Before leaving the platform, HRH
Prince Richard had a closer look at some of the offshore operations
during a guided tour round the platform. --
