Berinai Ceremony And Nightly Vigil At Istana

Bandar Seri Begawan – The “Majlis Istiadat Berinai Pengantin Diraja” or the Henna Tinting ceremony for the wedding of His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Yang Mulia Dayangku Sarah binti Pengiran Salleh Ab Rahaman was held at the Istana Nurul Iman last night.

And, last night, the Majlis Istiadat Berjaga-jaga continued at Istana Nurul Iman.

Just like the previous nights, the Istana Nurul Iman and its surrounding compound is illuminated with colourful lights, adding to the euphoric atmosphere of the Royal Wedding festivity.

Present at the Istiadat were YAM pengirans cheteria, cabinet ministers, deputy ministers, pengiran peranakans, pehin manteris and other senior government officials.

The night of vigil is a ritual normally held for a period of time preceding a ceremony or the istiadat proper.

Apart from performing religious activities, they were also engaged in traditional games.

A dikir presentation was also held in the Surau of Istana Nurul Iman.

Meanwhile, at anther part of the palace, a similar gathering was held for the women.

A group of women performed a dikir.

Wives of Cheteries, Cabinet Ministers, Pengiran Peranakans, Pehin Manteris and Senior Government Officials were also involved in the Istiadat Berjaga-jaga.

They passed the time by socialising and playing various traditional games, like congkak and pasang.
