Begawan - The people of Brunei have expressed their heartfelt
congratulations and wishes of happiness to the royal couple His Royal
Highness the Crown Prince Pg Muda Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah and Dayangku
Sarah binti Pengiran Salleh Ab Rahaman today.

Hjh Kolam Hj Pungut, 44, a headmistress of a primary school, expresses
her excitement over this joyous occasion.
She said that it is very rare to see
such occasion, which is not only felt by the elders but also the
younger generation.
“It is an occasion full of cultural
values and traditions to be witnessed by the younger generation”, she
said.
Meanwhile, Haji Ahad bin Nayan, 67, a
taxi driver, said that the Royal Wedding is a special memorable event
for him. He had also witnessed the wedding of His Majesty the Sultan
to Her Majesty Raja Isteri in the 1960s.
For him, the wedding of His Royal
Highness the Crown Prince to Dayangku Sarah will be a memorable one as
he may not be able to witness future royal weddings due to his old
age.
“I choose to witness this event on
television although in my heart I wish I can be in Bandar witnessing
the procession of our beloved Crown Prince”, he said.
Being a Bruneian Chinese Awang Alvin
Lim, 38, is proud that the world is focusing on Brunei for this
auspicious occasion.
“I am proud as a Bruneian as this
wedding of our beloved Crown Prince is a historical event, which will
be forever remembered by the people of Brunei”.
For Hjh Aishah bin Muin, 57, who had
also witnessed the wedding of His Majesty the Sultan to Her Majesty
Raja Isteri in the 1960s in Bandar Seri Begawan, said she is glad that
once again she will be able to witness the wedding of a coming Sultan.
“At that time of His Majesty the
Sultan’s wedding to Her Majesty Raja Isteri, my husband and I were in
Bandar Seri Begawan by the roadside waiting for them to pass by. Now,
we will be able to watch the highlight of the wedding of the Crown
Prince on television”, she said.
After 23 years living in Brunei and
opening a shop in the capital, Fatimah binti Abd Hamid, 50, had a
chance to express her heartfelt congratulations to the royal couple.
“When I saw the highlight of the
‘Akad Nikah Diraja’ ceremony on television, I was almost in tears as I
am so happy for the royal couple.
“Although I am not from Brunei but
after living here for 23 years, I am happy to be able to witness the
wedding of our Crown Prince to Yang Mulia Dayangku Sarah, Allah
Selamatkan Pengantin Diraja,” she added.
