Awang Rodowan Wins Cycling Race

Begawan - Awang Radowan emerged the winner in the open
individual event in the Nissan Cycling Brunei Open 2003 while the
Satria won in the team event.
The championship was organised by the
Brunei Darussalam Cycling Federation in collaboration with the
Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and sponsored by Nissan Boustead.
Awang
Haji Jemat Bin Haji Ampal, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of
Culture, Youth and Sports, flagged off the race yesterday morning.
The 160-kilometre race started and
finished in front of Boustead Company’s showroom in Gadong.
The race the first ever to be held
and is planned be an annual affair. It is expected eventually to draw
international participants.
Second place in the individual event
went to Mohamad Arbe Shadatul Farani Zainul Ariffin whilst Cheng Chew
Lie came in third.
Second place for team event went to
Jati racing team, Tutong, and in third place was the Power Rangers.
The individual champion, Awang
Radowan received $800 and the Satria team received $1,200.
