Woman returns home after heart
surgery in KL
By Achong Tanjong

Madam Dindon, (7th Right) with relatives and also members of the PWM
Association upon her arrival at the Brunei International Airport
Madam Dindon anak Lambong who
underwent surgery on August 26 at Institut Jantung Negara in Kuala
Lumpur safely arrived home yesterday.
She was welcomed at the Brunei
International Airport by the working committee and members of
Persatuan Waranegara Malaysia (PWM) as well as close family members
and relatives.
Madam Dindon, 56, from Kampung Labi
in the Belait District was diagnosed with a heart ailment.
Due to the unavailability of
treatment and surgery at the RIPAS hospital, she was subsequently
referred to Gleneagles JPMC, where the estimated cost of surgery was
too much for her to bear.
Madam Dindon was unable to raise the
amount of money and being a Permanent Resident, she was not eligible
for government financial assistance for the said surgery.
A public appeal was made through the
Bulletin dated July 29 and the response was overwhelming. Her story
caught the attention of the Bulletin readers and a fund was raised on
her behalf.
On August 10, she left for Institut
Jantung Negara in Kuala Lumpur for her heart surgery which cost around
RM25,000.
The working committee on behalf of
Madam Dindon and family expressed their sincere gratitude to all those
who had contributed generously in terms of cash, time, encouragement
and support.
