Seminar on Banking Products and
Services for SMEs
The Brunei Association of Banks will
organise a one-day seminar on Banking Products and Services for Small
and Medium sized entrepreneurs, to be held at Cesar Hall, The Orchid
Garden Hotel in Berakas on Thursday, September 11.
According to Mr Minorhadi bin Haji
Mirhassan, Manager Corporate and Institutional Banking at HSBC, in his
capacity as the Chairman of the Working Committee, this seminar is
organised to support the government's initiatives to diversify the
economy through the development of Brunei's Small and Medium sized
enterprises. The seminar will also be used as a platform to continue
building 'smart-partnerships' between the banking and business
community in supporting each other towards future cooperation.
This seminar is one of the 'Reaching
Out to the Community' projects that is having undertaken by the Brunei
Association of Banks. The seminar aims to educate local entrepreneurs
about the various banking services in Brunei to help develop their
business successfully. "We hope to present a comprehensive overview of
the available financial packages, from the Conventional banking and
from the Islamic banking perspectives," Mr Minorhadi revealed.
The one-day seminar will cover
Conventional Commercial Facilities, Islamic Commercial Products, the
Importance of Financial Management and the Credit Assessment Process.
The speakers will be senior bankers from HSBC, UOB, IDBB, Baiduri Bank
and the Brunei Institute of Chartered Public Accountants. "The seminar
has received a good response; we have received over 300 registrations
from entrepreneurs, graduates and business students who are seriously
considering venturing to starting up businesses. We hope that by
organising such a seminar, we are in a better position to understand
the needs of the business community," Mr Minorhadi further said.
The seminar will be officiated by the
guest of honour, Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Maidin bin Pengiran Haji
Hashim, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Finance. An Executive
Summary will also be delivered at the end of the seminar by Mr
Minorhadi Mirhassan, Chairman of the Working Committee to conclude on
