Teachers Find Satisfaction In
Profession

Begawan - Young and experiencedd teachers were seen mingling
with each other at yesterday's Teachers' Day celebration held at ICC
in Berakas.
Norul
Kamilia Hj Kamil and Mashema, both 25, and 23-year-old Norli Hj
Kamis just began their teaching service this year at the Raja Isteri
Fatimah Primary School.
"We entered the teaching profession
in the hope of developing our nation's children. This also adds to
our deep interest in teaching and it has given us motivation to be
better teachers," they said. "With such a grand celebration to
acknowledge our profession, it has encouraged us to be more
committed and be more hardworking to help students improve and we
feel more appreciated doing what we do.”
Also at yesterday's celebration
were 39year-old ; Hjh Norbayah Hj Shahminan along with her
colleagues, 40-year-old Hjh Maimon Lamat from the Special Education
Unit, 42-year-old Hjh Noraini Hj Timbang and 34-yearold Mardiah Hj
Wahab from SUAS Muara.
What they have in common was that
they teach children with special needs.
Hjh Norbayah began her service in
1990 and has been a teacher for 17 years. According to her, the
teachingprofession iss a noble career and they treat their students
as if they were their own children.
"Teaching special needs children is
a challenging job and it takes patience," she said.
This, year's Teacher's Day theme is
`Guru Beriltizam Memperkasa Keupayaan Bangsa' or `Committed Teachers
Empower the Capabilities of the Nation'.
Junainah Hj Zunaidi, a teacher at
Orang Kaya Besar Imas Subok Primary School, finds her job rewarding
and challenging. She finds it challenging as children are becoming
more and more mature so teachers need to keep up to date on topics
such as ICT
She felt proud when His Majesty
mentioned in the titah that teachers are `valuable' and that made
her proud to be in the teaching profession.'
Mdm Lee Yen Tshin has been a
teacher for almost 30 years and is the principal of PTE in Berakas
for the past two years.
She expressed her pride when two of
the 24 people mentioned were from their school.
Meanwhile, Jaqueline Chin -
principal of Jigsaw School-and mother Helen Chin, founder of the
school, were proud to be in the leaching profession. They find it
rewarding when parents come to tell them how glad they were that
they had send their kids to their school.
Jaqueline said it was satisfying to
help students make use of their talents in life and believed in
