Living The Dream With Pilihan Radio
By Aemy Azlena

Bandar Seri Begawan - In Conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya celebrations, Pilihan FM 95.9 and 96.9 will be hosting a live reality radio show called "Dreams Come True" on the first day of Raya.

DJ Izan of Pilihan Radio is the project manager of the programme, and during the selection process, he said, "I want to give Bruneians the chance to live their dreams. Bruneians have stopped dreaming and I don't want them to lose hope. I am living my dream (as a DJ) and I want others to live their dreams too."

The programme, initially advertised in early September, is the first ever carried out on Pilihan and is aimed at fulfilling their listeners' dreams.

"The listeners want to be heard and they are willing to do anything to make their dreams come true," DJ Izan added. He also said that those working on the project are all volunteers who are willing to invest their time and energy into the project.

More than 2000 emails were sent in response to the "Dreams Come True" advertisement, with some even coming from neighbouring countries, such as Singapore and Malaysia.

As part of the selection process, DJ Izan and a number of DJs from Pilihan, including Frankie, Marilyn and Sean, met with HSBC representatives at the HSBC Headquarters to choose the lucky five who will have their dreams made reality.

Of the 2000 candidates, only 16 were picked based on eligibility and validity. Furthermore, the dreams must not be about wants or needs, and should be realistic and attainable. Above all, the candidates must be positive and passionate about their dreams.

Five candidates were picked from the short listed 16 by DJ Izan and the other DJs, after much deliberation. The selection process was basd on majority rules, where those present at the time had to vote for their favourites from the 16. The ones with the most votes were made the lucky five.

The five candidates will have a select crew of DJs and volunteers going from as far as Belait District to the Brunei-Muara District in a van complete with equipment that will allow them to air the show live, as they meet with the lucky five at their homes and tell them personally that their dreams will be made reality.

As such, DJ Izan requests through the Bulletin that the candidates are to stay at home on the first day of Hari Raya and to tune into Pilihan around 1 lam and fpm when the program will be aired live. Additionally, they will be calling the winners ten minutes before they meet them to ascertain their locations and availability: -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
